China Mobile would Continue to Low the International Roaming Charge

On September, 16, Wang Jianzhou, the president of China Mobile said that China Mobile would continue the negotiation with the foreign operators and decrease the international roaming fee.

Wang said that the local charge had been decreased greatly, but the international roaming charge is still high. Anyhow, from 2009 up to now, there is decrease of the international roaming charge.

“It’s two euro in Europe last year while it’s less than one dollar now.” Wang stressed, “The decline of the roaming charge depends on the China Mobile and the foreign operators. China Mobile needs to continue the negotiation with the operators in other countries to low the charge.”

The industry insiders believed that there is declining space for the mobile charge. If the telecom operators are entitled the pricing right, the operators would make a further adjustment of the mobile phone charge.

In the passed few years, the mobile phone charge is declined continuously and the scale of the China Mobile users gains rapid development. However, with the decrease of the price elasticity, the market saturation makes the poor increasing of users. And the tradtional call and message service can’t bring the strong and continuous business increase.

For this reason, the China operators have started to search for new breakthroughs. Wang said China Mobile would search for new growth point in the mobile internet and internet of things while it optimizes structure and maintain the traditional business.
